The Razor Found Another Culprit

Poor Jack...Being compliant doesn't pay off :) He got shaved down today. Normally you have to sedate cats to shave them, but he is so sweet, he kindly let us butcher his hair cut for the sake of less shedding and hairballs.

Relaxation of the Ocean

This past weekend, Matt and I were really needing a vacation and time for relaxation amidst all that was going on with us in North Carolina. So we traveled to Fernandina Beach, Florida and stayed with some friends. We spent the time at the beach and deep sea fishing.

On Saturday we went deep sea fishing. Matt planned this for me since I had been wanting to do this for quite some time. The water temperature of the ocean was 10 degrees below normal which didn't make fishing overly successful...and that is not just an excuse :)

You first start out fishing for the bait to be used to reel in the big fish! That was probably the most fun for us girls. You caught up to 5 fish at a time on one cast and they were all manageable. Once we hooked the bait fish, they were tossed in a basin of water to keep alive for bait. In the pictures you'll see a squid. We hooked about 5 of those. Quite impressive.

The trip was organized by Jared, a good friend of ours. We enjoyed the adventure with him and his wife, Carolina. Carolina caught a nice large snapper and reeled it in on her own.

Jared, below, with a nice grouper that after hours of fishing we were really glad to obtain.

Matt and I, on the other hand, didn't seem to reel in much of the big stuff. We specialized in sea bass. They actually became quite annoying by taking our fish and leaving no room for the snapper and grouper we were hoping for.

Matt did find his niche reeling in a barracuda. The teeth were quite daunting which is why the big hook had to be used to bring it into the boat.

The sunrise was utterly amazing. It really set the stage for a wonderful trip.

We had an outstanding trip that really helped us relax. We are so thankful for all those that helped make it possible.

When Mom is home sick...

When mom is home sick from work, this is the true story of a pet's life! Its a hard one, huh? But I guess when you are home sick, it is nice to have lazy pets. They don't require much from you except a good place to sleep.

They'll be in for a rude awakening when kids join the picture!

Mom- Jack really likes the new blanket you made us!

Maggie dreaming of the dog park and wondering why mom is so lazy. But she handles this life of boredom quite well.

Matt's newest addition to his office. He is taking a test to get his PE (Professional Engineers License) and with that comes hours of studying. He needed a drafting table to help him with his studies...and well he got this one for free and it is working out perfectly. He even has a study partner that equally is enjoying the new addition.

Maggie at the dog park

I know we haven't posted in forever and that has much to do to our busy lives and many other circumstances that have left us MIA. Maggie is getting bigger and nearly full grown. Her favorite past time is going to the dog park that is located a couple miles from our house.

Her and her friends...

She has discovered water and that she loves not only swimming in the pool but rolling in the mud afterwards. It makes for a wonderful time at the park... for all involved/

Maggie and her friend Darla swimming together. It is her turf where she doesn't have rules and can just play.

Gone to the dogs

Life has gone to the dogs... at least recently. I somehow got roped into pet sitting a 7 week old 3 lb puppy. Her name is Holden. As you can see, she is very cute and Maggie is doing well with her. Maggie more than 12x her body weight and doesn't always realize that.

Maggie is looking all grown up now weighing in at 43 lbs at 6 months old.

Holden enjoys playing with Maggie's wagging tail.

People say that we hold puppy boot camp at our house, but as you can see...it isn't too hard here :)

Kitty Torture

If you are a pet...it might just be a curse to live in the house of a vet tech. You tend to be subject to a lot of poking and prodding and in Lily's case, a lion cut. She WAS our long hair cat. But when I had her under anesthesia to have some teeth pulled I also decided to shave her down.

She might look silly, but I think she really loves it. She is always asking to have her back scratched now :) and for us it means no more shedding from her for awhile. Matt is threatening to shave our other cat, so the vet tech is not the only culprit.
